Five years into being a full-time professional photographer I still look forward to every session with excitement. I love bringing my energy to each and every client I meet knowing I will be creating beautiful images which will be treasured for generations. I believe three main skills are essential in creating such beautiful images. First, a thorough knowledge of the technical components of my camera and how it captures light. Second, a creative edge that meets your expectations while offering welcome surprises. And third, an ability to connect with my subjects and draw out the beauty that makes them who they are. That combination is what can give you the confidence to trust me with capturing stunning images of your family.
How did I first get into photography... yeah--I was the kid who put pinafores on my cats and snapped their pictures. When I grew up, I expanded my boundaries, living in Japan, Moscow, and Florida, and travelling in Southeast Asia, East Africa and South America. I wanted to document absolutely everything I experienced, but of course I couldn't--I had to learn to be selective, and that's how I learned to be a photographer.
It didn't matter where I went, I was always drawn to people. When I came back home to Southern Alberta, suddenly my life was full of nieces, nephews, and children of friends. Photographing them, I developed a passion for capturing the feelings little ones spark in others. When Harold and I had our treasures, Hailey and Reuben, I understood more than ever how valuable these memories are. Now I try my very best to document the true relationships within families, the immense love for newborns, and the beauty and craziness of kids.
