Welcome!

Welcome to the first edition of "News & Views" from Visual Hues Photography in 2008! What a fabulous year 2007 has been! Thank you to all of you who have supported my new venture in its first year of business. As I have said to many people, after marrying my husband and having Hailey, starting Visual Hues was the best decision I ever made. To spend time with wonderful families, share the special moments in their lives, do what I love and then be rewarded with the smiles, tears and compliments – I could not be happier! Thank you again for all your support.

Featured Storyboards

It's always fun for me to experiment with storyboards and collages. Below are a couple of my favourite collages. This little guy was so adorable with his funky hat, I could just not stop pushing the shutter button! Couple and engagement shoots are a great opportunity to have lots of fun and be creative-- you never know when a culvert will come in handy! I have the honour of photographing this couple's wedding in August -- can't wait!!

New Product and Services!

Boxed Photos with Easel

These new boxes are just gorgeous! Ten 5x7 mounted prints are packaged together in this box which is topped up with a beautiful bow and window to display a favourite image. It comes in a whole array of colours and it will be coupled with an easel so you can change your display print from time to time to shake things up! You can put together a photo box with photos from your own shoot as a gift! Another fun idea is to give a special person in your live a gift certificate so they can receive their own photo session and photo box.

I will be very excited to be offering new photo collections, albums and products this year. Stay tuned for news very soon!

Calling all Newborn Twins

Experimenting with different ideas for photographs is a part of my job that I love. I am yet to take a photo shoot of newborn twins and really look forward to the opportunity to do so. An Organization I Support…

Three years ago, my husband Harold and I traveled to East Africa for a three-week vacation. You can imagine how thrilled we were with the photo opportunities in that part of the world! Our adventure took us on safari, through the Usambara mountains, to Dar Es Salaam and then to Nairobi. While talking with young people in Tanzania and Kenya, we began to understand the huge gap between the need for education and the cost of receiving it. For numerous reasons, it is very challenging for secondary students to receive education yet as we all can agree, youth is the future of any country.

Upon our return, we decided to help through raising funds for students to go to school. Through the generosity of friends and family we were able to send 23 students to school in the first year of HYTES existence! As the word got out and news expanded to further circles, the number of students we have been able to support grew to 78 last year and it looks like we will be sending over 100 students this year!! Made possible through a wonderful group of volunteers and many generous donors, HYTES now sends young people to school in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda and Guatemala.

The Impending Arrival of Baby Number Two!

As many of you know, our daughter Hailey is expecting a little brother or sister at the end of this month. It’s hard to believe our family will be expanding within the next month. We are so excited and can’t wait to meet this active little one in person soon!

I will be taking a bit of a break to settle in with our new little one. In the meantime, however, please feel free to email me if you are interested in an upcoming shoot and I will be sure to contact you about when I’ll be easing back into my love of photography!
