June 25, 2009 Welcome to the newest edition of News and Views from Visual Hues! This letter is packed full of all sorts of interesting information so take a close look! First, of all you may have noticed a new look for Visual Hues! I am so pleased with the new look and logo for the business. I wanted to give a big thank you to Christa Abbott of "One Marketing" who designed the logo for me -- she is an incredibly talented lady who has fresh and fun ideas that were able to reflect just what I was hoping for. There is also an extra big thank you to my husband Harold of Iron Lava Corp who put it altogether in my new website. It's so fun to have a website where you click on it and think "Ahhh, that's mine and I love it!" So thank you to both Christa and Harold for keeping all their hard work and patience as I went through all the emotions one undoubtedly goes through as you develop a brand that really speaks to what you would like to represent. Oh, the news! the news! I can't wait to share all of it with you. Let's get started! New Product
Contest! To celebrate the launch of these gorgeous frames, I just have to give one away! You do have to work for it a little bit though! Please send me a quick note of where you would most like your next photo shoot to be and why! You can be as crazy as you want to be -- it just has to be local! Some ideas off the top of my head --- at your favourite ice cream store, Big Rock near Okotoks, the house where you grew up, in front of your favourite grafitti.... let me know! I will pick a winner who will not only receive a complimentary photo shoot at the location you outlined, but also a Freshly Framed frame to go along with the experience! Please send in your entries to me by July 8th (click here for email address). Location Shoot: Mini-Sessions in LongviewWhat's next? Well, did you like the area where the images of Hailey and Reuben were taken? The location was compliments of a very close friend of mine whom I've had the great pleasure of knowing since waaaay back in grade 5. She lives just outside of Longview, very close to where I grew up, and her property is a haven for a photographer!! I was just bouncing with excitement as I walked around the buildings and saw so many creative possibilities!! Tractors, tires, barns, haybales, hillsides, blue buildings, wooden buildings, tall grass, ahhhhhh... just amazing. love, love, love it. And yes, Fawna and I are excited to share this wonderful location with you! On Thursday July 9th and Tuesday July 28th, I will be doing 40 minute shoots at this location throughout the day! Please contact me to make a booking if you are interested. It's a gorgeous hour's drive south of Calgary and makes for a wonderful day out! You'll receive the 40 minute shoot, a gallery showing 25 - 30 images as well as a 8x10 image and two 5x7 images for $175.
As a side note, Fawna and my sister in law Dawn are hosting ladies weekend in the Kanaskis with their company Infinite Wisdom Consulting. The "Me...A Perfectly Divine Weekend for Women" Please check out the information on this rejuvenating weekend. www.infinitewisdomconsulting.com/about_us_3.html Showcasing...
The second organization is very close to my heart as two ladies from it helped Harold and I through the two happiest days of our lives. Jen was with us for the arrival of Hailey and Deb shared in the day that Reuben decided to make his appearance. To have each of them as part of our birth experience was very special to us and we are indebted to their warmth, encouragement and knowledge. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it again!! They are both part of the Calgary Childbirth Education Association which offers pre and post natal education, doula services, and breasfeeding support. If you are planning to have another baby or know someone who is, I wholeheartedly encourage you to contact the association. The moment you meet any of these ladies you will feel their their sincerity and support. July 5th FundraiserI am very excited to also invite you to a fundraiser on July 5th at the South Calgary Community Center. My husband Harold and I started a non-profit organization (HYTES) with some other friends five years ago that raises money to help send students to school in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and Guatemala. This is our fifth annual fundraiser and we have given over 400 scholarships since the organization's first fundraiser back in 2004. From 1 - 4 in the afternoon on Sunday, July 5th, please join us for a fun-filled afternoon that has live entertainment, children's activities, snacks and a silent auction. Of course, there will be a photography package donated by Visual Hues Photography (as well donations from other businesses mentioned here!). The event is free so come along for a fun afternoon and feel great about helping youth in various countries receive their education. You can find more information at www.hytes.org and please rsvp to fifth@hytes.org.
